Cindy Abila, popularly known as Cara Feral, is a fast rising Kenyan songbird who uses her craft to make reggae and dancehall music. In Kenya this genre is male dominated and female artistes doing dancehall or reggae are countable.
Cara Feral is working hard to try and make a name for herself in the music world. Her hardwork has led to some amazing achievements. One of her songs ‘Woman of steel’ which debuted at number 10 on iTunes Hot Tracks Reggae Charts, May 2017; she’s the first East and Central African Reggae artist to debut on the itunes reggae charts.
She has released other songs such as “Hakuna Matata”, “Feel What I Fell”, “Born to Win”, “Kazi ni Kazi”, “Keys to my Heart” and “Friend Zone” and her new single “over and over.” This song has been received well and it’s getting airplay from most local radio stations.
She developed her fondness for reggae music while a kid. One of her uncles would constantly play reggae music. The more he played reggae music the more Cara Feral fell in love with reggae.
If you ask her why she loves reggae music, she will tell you that ” I love Reggae/Dancehall music because of its uniqueness, rich sound & blend of instruments which is breathtaking.” This features make it easy for her to express her self through her music.
Music is her life. It has been part of her life. Last year she was to perform at the African Descent Festival in Vancouver where should would have shared the stage with Eddy Kenzo and Emmanuel Jal . This event was one of the biggest in Canada last year. Cara Feral has made a name for herself in the international scenes.
Cara Feral has been refreshing our playlists with fresh hits over and over. And just as always she has unveiled a brand new record dubbed “Over and Over”. The song is performed in both English and Swahili, this ZJ Heno and Shamir produced track will sure get you in the love mood if not up and on your feet and grooving to the melodic voice of Cara. Her working with Majestic Trends (a management company) has been a really big boost to her career. Together they’ve been able to rebrand her and push her music to the right audience. She was on a media tour around the country trying to promote her new song “over and over”.
She is currently working on an extended play record (commonly known as EP) consisting of seven songs. In this EP she will be working with one of the best producers in kenya and she is hopeful she will get some huge collabos.
